Los Angeles based company The MIA Project has found a creative way to unify American made designers and consumers. They offer a badge to businesses who manufacture their goods in the USA. They also offer a supporters badge for people who endorse the movement. Each applicant is vetted to insure that their products are domestically produced. Applications can be found on their website along with a list of existing badge holders.
Although The Mia Project badges are not government regulated, they provide both businesses and consumers with a sense of comradery. Raising awareness for the American made movement while providing a seal of approval to makers who fit the criteria. They have created a list of requirements that designers, manufactures, production facilities and laborers must abide by to be considered. Founders, Micha Thomas and Jaime Lawson first launched publicly less than two years ago, to date they have over five hundred badge holders.
Along with The MIA Project badge the company also runs both a brick and mortar, which opened April 2015 and an e-commerce shop. All of the designers they carry are American made and proud badge holders.
