Formerly in textile and clothing design, potter Ariana Richie transitioned into making ceramics as a way to work with her hands more. She creates functional stoneware, intended to bring beauty to everyday life. Her aesthetic embodies nature and ease, in her words a “desire for simplicity in an overly sensory world and a holistic approach to life.” Ariana uses raw, naturally occurring, non toxic materials and recycles her clay scraps. Products are then shipped using biodegradable packing peanuts to reduced environmental impact. Some of our favorite pieces from Artisan Artifacts are her amazing coffee pour overs and her shallow bowls. Studio visits are available by appointment if you are in the Fort Collins, Colorado area.

No synthetic latex, fillers or fire retardants (which studies have linked to major health risks, including cancer). Lucy Michel is an artist born and raised in Los Angeles, her aesthetic is Modern Californian. Growing up here, the California vibes are deeply engrained in her. Lucy feels very connected to this land; from the beach, to the desert, to the mountains. It all inspires her work and can be seen in her ceramic designs. The shapes of Her pieces are modern, but the glazes + clay are earthy and simple. Delicious small batch, hand blended teas made from an assortment of organic herbs and mushrooms. A couple of our favorites; Heart Herbal Tea, made from hibiscus, ginger, rose hips, stevia leaf, orange peel, rose petals and hawthorn leaf (try this one iced, its perfect) and Awaken Black Tea, an uplifting mix of cornflowers, chaga + cordyceps mushrooms, vanilla bean and black tea. Not only is their packaging beautiful to look at but it is also Eco friendly, they use recyclable containers, compostable tea bags and a biodegradable wrap to seal in freshness, additionally 1% of proceeds are donated to environmental conservation efforts.

A mother and daughter duo forging metal in the desert. Bright Star & Buffalo was born from a desire to practice creativity daily and to hand forge pieces with intent. Kelsey (the mother) has 40+ years of experience working with metals. While Natalie (the daughter) studied liberal and fine arts, then went on to work in varying design fields (jewelry, interior, theater set). They use recycled or repurposed metals, resuse their scraps and work with cruelty free and gathered materials, implementing sustainable practices all along the way. We adore their wall hangings and brass hooks (pictured above).

One of my favorite discoveries this year, 100% natural vegetable tanned leather goods, not only does this mean that the leather is free of toxic chemicals but it forms a natural patina over time + softens beautifully. Sankat makes bags, wallets, belts, homewares, the most perfect camera strap and more using leather.
